The Oran volleyball team (3-9-1) lost a hard-fought match against Malden (6-7-1) on Monday, September 18.
“We ended losing the fifth set after Malden got a big jump on us early on with a scoring gap that we just couldn’t overcome,” said Oran coach Lindsey Bickings. “We continue to make progress with being mentally strong and my young players and new leaders are beginning to see how important each of their roles are on the court.”
Other results from Monday, September 18 were: New Madrid County Central improved its record to 9-6-0 with a straight-sets win at South Pemiscot (0-9-0).
East Prairie’s (2-6-0) slide continued as the team lost 3-1 at Southland (6-6-1).
Charleston (1-6-0) recorded its first win of the season with an impressive 3-1 win at Zalma (3-13-0).
Sikeston (4-8-2) lost in straight sets to Bloomfield (3-4-0).
Oran hosts Scott City (4-5-2) on Tuesday, September 19.
NMCC hosts Clarkton on Tuesday, September 19.
East Prairie travels to Charleston on Tuesday, September 19 for the Battle of Mississippi County.
Sikeston is on the road at Twin Rivers (4-5-0) on Tuesday, September 19 and at St. Puix (2-7-0) on Friday, September 22.
