Veronica Schabbing's main competition in Saturday's Cape Central Invitational came from her teammates.
The senior led a 1-2-3 finish as the Tigers rolled to their fifth straight victory in the event.
Schabbing finished in 20 minutes, 5 seconds to continue her stellar season.
She finished second the previous week in one of the races at the Forest Park Invitational in St. Louis.
Said Central coach Mark Hahn of that race: "This was a great day for Veronica. There are a lot of cross country fans throughout the state, and I think her name is going to be on a lot of message boards in the next 24 hours. She is not going to be a secret around the state."
Schabbing was an all-stater the last two years, finishing 14th in the Class 4 girls race and helping Central capture a team trophy from the state meet for the first time in school history. She placed 25th in the state as a sophomore.
She also finished second at last year's Hancock Invitational to lead the Central girls to their first team championship there. They will bid for the repeat this weekend.
