Capaha Field has been the victim of vandals and thieves three times over the last 10 days, a city official said Thursday night.
The field was broken into Wednesday night or Thursday morning after previous incidents Sunday and June 19.
During the course of one of the incidents, an electrical box was damaged and a tarp for the bullpen was stolen. The tarp was valued at around $300.
Another incident included damage to the field from footprints of more than one person.
During the latest incident, the city official said, parties attempted to break into the Capaha Field press box, which was constructed last year and includes the amenities of a small apartment. The box also is equipped with a motion sensor alarm, which apparently was set off and deterred the perpetrators.
A pair of sequined flip flops was left behind in one of the dugouts.
A spokesman with the Cape Girardeau Police Department had no details on the latest incident at Capaha, but said some vehicles in the area also had been reportedly broken into.
More patrols of the area are expected, the city official said.
