It was a day for no-hitters in area high school softball Thursday as Scott City's Britne Amick and Advance's Amber Bond both hurled gems to lead their teams to lopsided victories.
In Scott City, Mo., the Lady Rams (5-2) rolled past Portageville 7-1. Amick struck out six and walked seven in seven innings.
Sidney Baer, Shana Wadlington and Audrey Heisserer all had two of the Lady Rams' 10 hits.
In Puxico, Mo., Advance (5-1) destroyed the host squad 20-0 in a game stopped after three innings by the mercy rule.
Bond, who has pitched every Advance contest so far, retired all nine batters she faced for a perfect game. She struck out five and recorded her fourth no-hitter of the season.
The Lady Hornets had 20 hits, led by Emily Johnson with four. Bond and Dana Williams both had two hits, including home runs, while Deanne Kennedy and Sherina Martin each added two hits.
