Southeast Missouri State baseball players Freddy Lopez and Bo Jenkins did not have to wait long to find a place to continue their careers following the Redhawks' early exit at the Ohio Valley Conference tournament last week.
Lopez and Jenkins joined the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League on Thursday. The Grizzlies play their home games at GMC Stadium in Sauget, Ill.
During the Redhawks' 24-32 campaign, Lopez finished with a .302 batting average along with 41 RBIs, 21 runs scored and five home runs. Jenkins hit .250 with 26 runs scored and 17 RBIs.
Both Lopez and Jenkins came to Southeast from Central Arizona Community College, where they were members of the Junior College World Series championship team.
The addition of Lopez and Jenkins gives the Grizzlies five former Southeast players on their roster. Phil Warren, Brandon Smith and Gary Gilbert also are on the team.
