BROSELEY -- The Twin Rivers High School girls basketball team was ranked eighth in the most recent Class 2A state poll. The Lady Royals are making a case that they should probably be rated higher.

Twin Rivers notched an impressive victory Thursday night, using a big second half to upend Class 4A Cape Girardeau Central 58-48. The Lady Royals are now 14-1 while the Lady Tigers fell to 7-5.

"They have a very good team," said Central coach Mark Ruark in complimenting the Lady Royals. "We had a 13-point lead in the second quarter, they hit a couple of late threes to get back in the game and then they just dominated the third quarter."

The Lady Royals, trailing 23-16 at halftime, outscored Central 21-8 in the third quarter to take command.

Amanda Lance scored a game-high 20 points for Twin Rivers.

Kate Richards led Central with 15 points while Sarah Hyslop added 11.

"Kate Richards had her second straight very good game, but she injured her knee and is getting an MRI (today)," Ruark said. "We're already without (injured) Heather Jenkins and now our second post player goes down."
