TULSA, Okla. -- The Southeast Othakian basketball team came within a last-second shot of Tulsa on the road Wednesday, but a 3-pointer by Jamie Neff rimmed out to give Tulsa a 74-71 victory.

The loss dropped the Otahkians to 1-5 on the year. Tulsa improved to 3-2.

"There's no one else I would want to shoot in that situation other than Jamie," said Southeast coach Ed Arnzen. Neff finished with nine points.

Tajuana White led Southeast with 17 points and Moneik Campbell followed with 12. ChyAnne Kapitzke had a career night with 10 points and 6 of 8 shooting from the charity stripe. Jamie Koester scored nine points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had four steals.

"There were no losers tonight," said Arnzen. "We were winners and I told them that in locker room.

"We put ourselves in a position to win and that's something we haven't done this year."

Southeast started slowly, falling behind 7-0 before taking a 12-11 lead midway through the first half. Tulsa led 35-33 at halftime.

The Otahkians built a 52-46 lead with less than 10 minutes to go, but Tulsa scored seven points in the next 41 seconds to take a lead they would not lose.

Southeast cut the lead to 70-69 on a basket by Dana Hawkins with 1:29 left, but were unable to overtake Tulsa in the final seconds.
