NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee State gained a huge measure of revenge Wednesday night with a 73-39 victory over the Southeast Otahkians.
Southeast beat Tennessee State earlier this season at home, but the Otahkians scored just 13 points in the second half of the blowout.
The loss was the fifth in a row for Southeast and dropped the Otahkians to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Tennessee State improved to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the OVC.
Southeast shot just 27 percent from the field, including 0-for-11 from behind the 3-point line. Jamie Koester led the Otahkians with 10 points. Tennessee State got a game-high 22 points from Schronda Moore and Tequila Holloway followed with 19.
Tennessee State never trailed in the contest and led 38-26 at halftime. A 3-0 run by Southeast sparked by Moneik Campbell's lay-up and a Koester free throw closed the score to 38-29.
Tennessee State used a 17-0 run midway through the second half to put the game away. Southeast junior Sherry Cook ended the run with free throw at the 7:55 mark, but Tennessee State already led 62-34.
Following Cook's free throw, Tennessee State went on an 11-2 scoring run.
