NEW MADRID, MO. — East Prairie had three different players hit a home run in a resounding victory over New Madrid County Central at Eagles Park on Tuesday, April 11.
East Prairie (4-6) won 14-2 over NMCC (4-6) after finishing the game with a 14-4 hitting advantage.
“We finally got the bats going today,” said East Prairie coach Gary Scott. “It was good to see some balls leave the yard and put some runs on the board. We had some quality at-bats and hit the ball hard. It was good to see [Noah Johnson] and [Owen Knight] have big games at the plate. They were both solid on the mound as well. Hopefully, this builds some confidence in our guys and we can keep it going.”
Johnson finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs and scored three runs and Knight was 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
Johnson, Ty Wallace and Leven Turner each hit home runs.
Knight earned the win on the mound after throwing four innings. He allowed one run on one hit with two strikeouts and three walks.
Johnson pitched the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts and three walked batters.
Brandon Water was NMCC’s only player with multiple hits. He finished 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI.
