Townsend and Smith lead Portageville Bulldogs over Kelly

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — Shane Townsend had 19 points and Jamarion Smith totaled 12 as Portageville defeated Kelly 41-31 on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

The Bulldogs improved to 14-10 with the victory, while the Hawks dropped to 11-12 with the loss.

“The kids came out and competed well,” said Portageville coach TJ Smith. “We played a little out of character early but settled in and got back to Portageville Basketball. It was a very physical game and the boys were up for the task.”

Dalton Forck was Kelly's top performer with 14.

“I thought we played physical and tough,” said Kelly coach Jeremy Brinkmeyer. “I was proud of how we guarded and battled all night. We just need to find a way to be more consistent offensively.”

Both teams are back in action on Friday.

Portageville travels to Charleston (18-5), while Kelly will host East Prairie (18-5).
