WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- David Toms birdied four of his first seven holes Sunday, overcame a bogey in the middle and a late challenge by Kirk Triplett to shoot a 3-under-par 68 and defend his Michelob Championship tournament title by one shot.
The victory, clinched with a par on the 18th hole, was the PGA champion's third this year and the seventh of his career.
Toms won $630,000 to move from fifth to third on the money list with more than $3.3 million in 25 events. He wound up at 15-under 269.
Kirk Triplett was at 270. Charles Howell III and Esteban Toledo tied for third at 273.
World Championship
VALLEJO, Calif. -- Dorothy Delasin beat Karrie Webb and Se Ri Pak by four strokes to win the Samsung World Championship.
Delasin, who won $157,000, shot a 3-under 69 in the final round for an 11-under 277 total. Pak and Webb both carded even-par 72s, finishing at 281.
Turtle Bay Seniors
KAHUKU, Hawaii -- Hale Irwin shot a steady 4-under-par 68 to hold off John Jacobs by three strokes and capture the inaugural Turtle Bay Championship.
Irwin, finished the 54-hole event with an 11-under 205, while Jacobs' closing 69 gave him a 208.
Irwin won a $225,000 with the triumph.
