DENVER -- Keith Tkachuk scored a pair of goals to become the 74th NHL player to score 400 and Chris Osgood stopped 39 shots to lead the Blues to a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday night.

Tkachuk, who has all three goals for the Blues this year, recorded his 400th goal in the first period and the game-winner at 6:47 of the third period. Doug Weight had two assists and the Blues killed six power plays in winning for the first time this year.

Paul Kariya scored his second goal in as many games for the Avalanche, who were 1-for-7 on the power play.

The Avalanche had more chances, but St. Louis cashed in on a five-on-three power-play to lead 1-0 after one period. Osgood withstood two, three-shot flurries to keep Colorado at bay.

With Karlis Skrastins already off for holding, Rob Blake drew a two-minute tripping minor and the Avalanche nearly killed the Skrastins infraction when Weight got the puck at the left point. Aebischer stopped Weight's shot, but Tkachuk sent the rebound just inside the left post at 16:13.

Osgood continued to stand tall in a scoreless second period when the Blues were outshot 19-3 and had to kill four penalties. He stopped Peter Forsberg twice during a 45-second five-on-three disadvantage late in the period.

Kariya tied the game at 4:23 of the third period with Colorado on its sixth power play. Teemu Selanne fed Rob Blake with a cross-ice pass and Blake sent the puck to Kariya in the slot for the goal.

St. Louis regained the lead at 6:47 left when Colorado got caught with four skaters deep inside St. Louis' zone. The puck came to Weight on a three-on-one break and he passed to Tkachuk, who flipped the puck over Aebischer's left shoulder.

Noteworthy

St. Louis is 4-10-3-0 and has been outscored 54-34 in Denver.

Blues center Mike Danton stood face-to-face with Peter Forsberg without exchanging blows after receiving minor penalties in the first period.

Aebischer's shutout streak of 76 minutes, 13 seconds ended with Tkachuk's goal.
