"This extension sends quite a statement about Samford University for a nationally respected coach like Jimmy Tillette to spend his entire head coaching career at our institution," Samford athletic director Bob Roller said.

Tillette has been at Samford since 1991, when he was an assistant on John Brady's coaching staff.

The Bulldogs went 20-11 last season and advanced to the championship game of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
