Tigers upset by Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Erica Hallman had a career high 29 points and added eight assists and five rebounds as Kansas kept hope alive for a WNIT bid with an 81-71 come-from-behind overtime victory on Saturday.

The Jayhawks (16-10, 5-10) looked as if they were going to win the game in regulation when Kaylee Brown hit two free throws with 19 seconds left to put the Jayhawks ahead 64-61. But Carlynn Savant was fouled as she tried a 3-pointer and hit all three free throws to send it into overtime.

Kansas opened the overtime with an 8-0 run and outscored Missouri 17-7 in the extra 5 minutes. Missouri (20-7, 10-5) made only one field goal in the final seven minutes of the game and missed the last four free throw attempts after tying the school record by making 21 consecutive free throws to start the game.

Tiffany Brooks had a season high 26 points for Missouri on 9 of 12 shooting. LaToya Bond, who had 31 points in the Tigers 64-57 win over the Jayhawks in Columbia two weeks ago, scored four points.
