Jake Welch pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief as Central's baseball team won a SEMO Conference game 6-3 Tuesday in Dexter.
Dexter knocked Tiger starter Tyrone Reece out in the third inning, scoring two runs to take a 3-2 lead. Central (12-8) trailed until the sixth inning when it scored three runs to go up by 6-3. Central's Lucas Presson hit a solo home run in the seventh to finish off the scoring.
Seth Hudson led the Tigers with three hits and two RBIs. Presson, Aaron Dohogne and Patrick Slattery had two hits apiece for Central. Slattery added two RBIs. Josh Miller went 2-for-3 for the Bearcats (9-4).
Central's Corey Huskey threw a six-inning no-hitter in the junior varsity game. The Tigers won 11-0.
BASEBALL
Advance 2, Puxico 0
Advance senior Eric O'Hare struck out 17 batters as Advance won at home.
O'Hare pitched the complete game for the win, walking three and allowing three hits. Zach Hudson led the Hornets (10-9) offense, going 2-for-2.
Oran 23, Woodland 2
Visiting Oran disposed of Woodland with the help of a 14-run fourth inning.
Trey Graviett (5-1) was the winning pitcher for the Eagles. Graviett helped his own cause at the plate going 2-2 with a home run and a double. Tyler Cookson added a home run for Oran (10-1), and Nathan Seyer went 2-for-3. Trey's brother, Brent Graviett, added a double while Trevor Irwin went 2-for-4.
Woodland scored twice in the third inning with the help of three errors by Oran's defense.
Delta 9, Meadow Hts. 4
Brandon Keesee went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to help Delta win at home.
Cody Crowden finished with three hits including a pair of doubles for Delta (3-9). Tom Horn, Brent Menz and Vince Flores each added two hits.
Tanner Baggett picked up the win. He pitched all seven innings and allowed four runs on nine hits.
Chaffee 12, Oak Ridge 3
After clinging to a 3-0 lead after five innings, visiting Chaffee scored nine runs in the sixth to secure the win.
Sam Burnett allowed one hit over five innings for Chaffee (7-7). Burnett struck out 12 and walked one. Zac Horman led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Brent Thomason added two hits for the Red Devils. The game was called after six innings due to lightning.
SOFTBALL
Leopold 25, Kingston 2
Tasha Thele went 3-for-4 with eight RBIs as Leopold won at home in three innings.
Jessica Stoverink picked up her fifth win of the season. Lori VanderMierden went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs for Leopold (12-0).
Chaffee 5, Oak Ridge 0
Abby Walter pitched a one-hitter as Chaffee won on the road.
Chaffee (6-2) finished with nine hits, led by Mallory Kiefer's 3-for-5 performance. Kegan Orr, Walter and Molly Fowler had two hits apiece.
Scott City 22, Charleston 4
Ashton Phillips went 2-for-4 with a home run as visiting Scott City won in three innings.
Kristen Schaeffer had three hits, and Ashley Livingston added two hits for the Rams. Phillips pitched a complete game for the win.
GIRLS SOCCER
Perryville 9, Sikeston 0
Perryville had seven different scorers in a road win.
Ashley Blyzes led Perryville (9-5-2) with three goals. Chris Schremp, Amber Hacker, Ashley Riney, Jodie Amschler, Jenna Schessler and Kelley Hadler had a goal apiece. Amber Hacker (3), Heather Hager (2), Amber Crites, Riney and Ashly Hadler added assists. Katie Lowry made four saves for her sixth shutout.
Perryville's junior varsity won 1-0.
TRACK AND FIELD
Perryville wins at Kennett
The Perryville boys track team won the Kennett Inviational title. Perryville (115) finished ahead of Poplar Bluff (108) and NMCC (84).
Perryville won seven events and finished third or higher in 10 events. Several Perryville athletes, including Terry Wood, Kevin Bohnert, Kyle Lorenz and Jesse Wisler, each won two events.
GOLF
Central 152, Jackson 160, Notre Dame 170
Blake Driskell and Ty Gramling each shot 36 to lead the Tigers to a win at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Notre Dame's Will Lindman and Jackson's Eric Fraley also shot 36 to tie for medalist.
GIRLS TENNIS
Charleston 7, Central 2
Kevin Rohatgi was involved in both Central wins as the Tigers fell at home.
Rohatgi won his No. 6 singles match 8-4 over Jake Gerrard and teamed with Tyler Roeger for an 8-3 win in doubles.
Central fell to 3-7.
