Central placed second in the the Green Division of the FZN wrestling tournament with 172 points Saturday.

The Tigers finished behind only Fort Zumwalt North (286 points) and wrestled their way past Webster Groves (154 points), Sumner (102 points) and Parkway Central (69 points).

Central junior Zach Wilson finished in third place in the 171-pound weight class. He finished with four pins.

"Zach wrestled a great tournament," Central coach James Brake said. "Even after a tough loss, he was able to come back and get a big pin in the third-place match."

Claiming fourth-place finishes for the Tigers were Desmond Howard (119), Ryan Wachter (145), Kevin Flesher (160) and Trey Grovenor (275).

Jackson places fourth

The Jackson wrestling program finished fourth (276 points) in a 12-team, two-day tournament at Parkway South.

"It was a very tough tournament and had a lot of teams that will be in our sectional this year," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said. "It was a very competitve 4A tournament with some outstanding matches."

Seckman (321 1/2) finished first, followed by Parkway South (320 1/2) and Rockbridge (291).

Francis Howell North (242) placed fifth and Lafayette (237) sixth.

Four Jackson wrestlers advanced to the finals and finished in second place: Clay Rouse (112), Justin Miller (152), Michael Riney (189) and Blake Peiffer (215).

Jamie Schumacher placed third in 145. Fourth-place finishers for the Indians were Levi Rayburn (103), Josh Scott (119) and Doug Froemsdorf (125).
