Cape Girardeau Central High's baseball team took out its recent frustrations on Scott City Thursday afternoon.
The previously struggling Tigers scored six first-inning runs and routed the visiting Rams 12-2 in a game stopped after the top of the fifth inning by the 10-run rule.
Central evened its record at 13-13 heading into next week's Class 4A district tournament. The Class 2A Rams fell to 5-15.
"It was good to get a win and get us in a good frame of mind going into districts," said Central coach Steve Williams.
John Snider was the winning pitcher as he worked the first four innings, allowing a pair of unearned runs and three hits while striking out six and walking none.
T.J. Erlacker hurled a hitless inning to close things out.
The Tigers' 12-hit attack was led by Snider and Jason Chavez with three each. Dusty Barrows and Travis Wissman both had two hits while Erlacker drove in four runs.
Trenton Estes, who was knocked out in Central's six-run first, suffered the loss.
Central's JV beat Scott City 7-0 as the JV Tigers ended their season at 12-5 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the SEMO Conference.
Jason Gibson picked up the win. He went seven innings, allowed five hits and a walk while striking out seven.
Chris Conrad and Josh Ford provided RBI doubles for Central, which had only five hits.
Chaffee 6, New Madrid 1
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Chaffee rode the impressive pitching of Zak Horman to its 20th victory of the season.
Horman worked all seven innings, allowing four hits while striking out three and walking three.
The Red Devils (20-2) had just six hits, two by Matt Stroup. Travis Hanback belted a solo home run and Perry Rice extended his hitting streak to a season-long 22 games.
Chaffee will close out the regular season today at home against Sikeston with a share of the SEMO Conference title on the line. Sikeston has a 7-0 league record while Chaffee is 6-1.
Sikeston 8, Jackson 2
JACKSON, Mo. -- Sikeston had just one more hit than Jackson but the Bulldogs still had little trouble in disposing of the Indians.
The Bulldogs had eight hits to the Indians' seven. Garrett Williams and Ricky Renfroe each had two of Jackson's hits.
Jackson (11-12), in tuning up for next week's district tournament, used four pitchers, none going more than two innings. Bryan Austin suffered the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) and four hits in two frames.
Bobby Landers worked six innings for the victory.
Oran 13, East Prairie 2
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Oran continued its impressive season as the 17-5 Eagles romped in five innings.
Garrett Cook allowed three hits and no earned runs in going the distance. He struck out six and walked two.
Oran's 10-hit attack was led by Joey Bickings, who went 3-for-3 with two home runs. Trey Graviett was 3-for-4 with four RBIs while Matt Seyer added two hits and two RBIs.
The Eagles will close out the regular season today at home against Bloomfield.
Woodland 8, Kelly 3
MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Woodland improved to 14-6 and dropped Kelly to 10-14.
The Cardinals had 12 hits, led by Kyle Booth with three to go along with three RBIs. Ryan Bandermann added two hits while Luke Johnson delivered two RBIs.
Johnson was the winning hurler as he worked 3 2/3 innings in relief.
Oak Ridge 6, Delta 5
OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Oak Ridge rallied to pick up its fourth one-run victory of the season in a game that went just five innings as agreed upon by both coaches before the game after Delta showed up late.
The Blue Jays (11-6) came from behind by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Aaron Eisenhauer had an RBI double and scored the tying run on a triple by Ben Ponder, who then sent Oak Ridge ahead by scoring on a wild pickoff throw.
Clayton Ruesler notched the win in relief, hurling three scoreless and hitless innings. He fanned three and walked one.
Oak Ridge had just four hits, by four different players.

The Lady Tigers tuned up for next week's district tournament with a hard-fought victory over the district rival Lady Mules.
Central (13-5-6) scored with about four minutes left in the game as Trisha Klipfel booted in the goal, with an assist from Megan McDonald. Keeper Heather Hey recorded the shutout.
"It was a good game and a good warmup for districts," said Central coach Tom Doyle.
Jackson 2, Carbondale 2
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Jackson ended the regular season with a draw.
The Lady Indians (12-7-4) got goals from Emily Curtis and Kenzie Turley, with Lacie Hodo and Erin Hartman recording assists.
St. Vincent 1, De Soto 0
DE SOTO, Mo. -- Amy Wengert scored early in the second half, with an assist from Amanda Carron, as St. Vincent won its final regular-season game.
Mindy Cattoor recorded her 11th shutout for the Squaws (14-8-1).
