DEXTER -- In a game that was suspended Saturday and completed Monday, Cape Girardeau Central High's baseball team beat Dexter 6-0 behind Tatum Kitchen's one-hitter.

When the game was halted because of rain Saturday in the second inning, Central (16-6) led 3-0. The Tigers added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings Monday.

Kitchen struck out 11 and walked two.

Ross Bennett had two of Central's four hits and two RBIs. Central was helped by 10 walks.

Central will play Notre Dame at Notre Dame Wednesday.

Kelly wins two

PERRYVILLE -- Kelly beat Perryville 12-4 Monday and then topped St. Vincent 7-3 in a make-up game.

In the first game, Denver Stuckey (5-1) got the win. He allowed seven hits in seven innings.

Kelly pounded out 15 hits. Nathan Dirnberger and John Welter each had three hits, Stuckey and John Livingston each had two and Jim Hulshof had a bases-clearing triple.

Ben Klipfel allowed five hits and struck out seven in seven innings and got the win in the second game.

Kelly (12-4) had nine hits. Jason Glastetter and Hulshof each had two hits, Livingston scored three runs and stole three bases and Klipfel had a double and two RBIs.

Oran 17, Scott City 1

SCOTT CITY -- With Scott City's ace Tim Lowery sick with pneumonia, Oran hammered freshman Ricky Keller and cruised to victory Monday.

Leading 9-1 after three innings, Oran (15-3) scored eight in the sixth.

Dustin Dannenmueller (5-1) got the win. In six innings, he permitted five hits and struck out six.

Oran had 15 hits. Dustin McAllister went 5-for-5 with three RBIs and Billy Loper was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run.

Sikeston 16, Chaffee 6

SIKESTON -- Clay Hooper had two bases-clearing triples and was the winning pitcher in Sikeston's victory over Chaffee Monday.

Josh Hanlon allowed nine runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings and took the loss. Chaffee totaled six hits; Jason Harrell, Dusty Leggett and Denny Graviett each drove in runs.

Sikeston scored four runs in both the first and fourth innings before adding five in the fifth, when Chaffee (12-7) made four errors.

Advance 8, Oak Ridge 4

ADVANCE -- Advance improved to 13-4 with its victory over Oak Ridge Monday.

Chris Wallace (6-2) got the win. He went all seven innings, struck out nine and allowed seven hits. Wallace also hit a two-run home run, his fifth of the year.

D.A. Slinkard, Tyler Hitt and Alan Stevens each had two hits for Advance, which totaled eight hits.

SOFTBALL

ND, Scott City split

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City won a game that was continued from April 20 11-9 Monday and Notre Dame won the game scheduled for Monday 3-0.

For Notre Dame (7-7) in the first game, Bonnie Essner, Jill Huber and Erin Hamm each had two hits. Huber had an inside-the-park home run.

Scott City's Tara Phillips had four hits, Amy O'Brien had three and Jessica Dees had two. O'Brien was the winning pitcher, and Randi Senciboy took the loss.

In the second game, Senciboy went all seven innings, limiting the Lady Rams (6-5) to three hits and striking out seven. O'Brien suffered the loss.

Senciboy had two of Notre Dame's five hits.

Chaffee 16, Sikeston 0

SIKESTON -- Amy Burnett improved to 8-0 in Chaffee's five-inning win over Sikeston Monday.

In five innings, Burnett struck out three, allowed two hits and walked one.

Chaffee (13-2) totaled eight hits, drew eight walks and stole 10 bases. Jody Pfefferkorn had two hits and Jill Little had a bases-clearing double.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cape Central 3, Carbondale 2

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Central's Erica McDonald scored a goal on a corner kick 19 minutes into the second half and Central escaped with a victory Monday over Carbondale, Ill., and remained unbeaten.

Central (15-0-1) led 2-1 at halftime; freshman Amber Voerg scored each goal and Amanda Hiler and Melissa Altenthal each got assists.

Central's JV lost 3-1.

Notre Dame 2, West Plains 1

Tied 1-1, Notre Dame's Jennifer Glueck scored her second goal of the game 25 minutes into the second half Monday, and Notre Dame (6-12-1) edged West Plains.

Katie Mehner got the assist on Glueck's first goal, midway through the first half. After West Plains scored about seven minutes into the second half, Jaymie Frank got the assist on Glueck's other goal.

Notre Dame's JV won 2-0.

Jackson 10, Farmington 0

JACKSON -- Jackson brought the 10-goal lead rule into play in a lopsided win over Farmington.

Julie Wunderlich netted three goals while Jennifer Brown and Amanda Beussink tallied two apiece. Johanna Gordon, Dana Eakins and Jessica Schultz accounted for the other goals.

The game was halted with about 10 minutes remaining. Jackson improved to 11-5.

Jackson's JV won 8-0.
