Cape Central High's swimming and diving team had one of the biggest day's in its history Thursday.
For the first time in school history, the Tigers beat Country Day, perennially of the state's stronger programs, 96-89. It was the first loss of the season for Country Day.
Also, for the second time in Central history, a Tiger diver made the state cut. Nick Sterrett's 221.05 qualified him for the state meet.
Central had two other new state-qualifying times Thursday. Eric Yount's :23.04 in the 50-meter freestyle and the 200-meter freestyle relay team's 1:35.08 both made the cut. The relay team's members are Jason Owen, Ben Chisman, Yount and Matt Younghouse.

MORLEY -- A balanced effort by Scott City pushed the Lady Rams past Scott County Central on the road Thursday.
Four Lady Rams reached double figures. Sara Emerson had 14 points, Amy O'Brien and Tara Sanford both added 13 and Jennifer Miller totaled 10. Sarah Glenn had five assists.
Scott City (10-3) led 17-9 after one quarter and 33-17 at halftime.
Scott Central (4-7) was led by Ashley Whitson's 15 points. Vontrice Blackmon added 13 and Jamie Sadler had 11.
Greenville 44, Woodland 34
MARBLE HILL -- Greenville led 13-3 after one quarter and beat Woodland Thursday.
Woodland fell to 4-5.
Jada Trentham led Woodland with 17 points. Greenville's Heather Johnson had 15 points and scored the 1,000th point of her career.
Chaffee 63, East Prairie 36
EAST PRAIRIE -- Chaffee led 13-5 entering the second quarter and won easily Thursday to improve to 6-7.
For Chaffee, Brandi Foulk had 24 points and Renee Vandeven added 14.
Chaffee's JV won 57-19.
St. Pius 78, St. Vincent 61
FESTUS -- Despite Fara Galati's 26 points and Becky Lorenz's 21 points, St. Vincent lost on the road to St. Pius Thursday.
St. Pius led 19-9 after one quarter.
St. Vincent dropped to 4-11.

Scott-Mississippi tourney
DELTA -- The top seeds will meet in the finals tonight at 8 in the Scott-Mississippi County Tournament.
In semifinal play Thursday, top-seeded Scott City edged No. 4 Scott County Central 84-80 and No. 2 Delta beat No. 3 Kelly 65-56.
Scott City (16-1) trailed Central 67-65 entering the fourth quarter. The Rams outscored the Braves (9-5) 19-13 in the fourth to win.
For Scott City, Dustin Cauble had 29 points, Chris Sisk 16, David Inman 13 and Tim Lowery 12.
Central had five players in double figures. John Fort had 19 points, Jason Gipson 15, Eric Canady 15, Marcus Blissett 13 and Demetris Williams 12.
In the night's other game, Delta (9-5) trailed 39-35 at halftime before outscoring Kelly (9-7) 30-17 in the second half.
For Delta, Garrett DeBrock led all scorers with 21 points, Sammy Below added 14 and Kenny Gaebler had 12.
Jeff McNeill led Kelly with 15 points and Clark Cossou added 10.
Fredericktown 51, St. Vincent 48
PERRYVILLE -- Down 34-21 at halftime, St. Vincent outscored Fredericktown 15-4 in the third quarter, but eventually lost Thursday's makeup game at home.
St. Vincent's Jonathan Wengert led all scorers with 21 points and Jason Cissell added 11. Andy Clark scored 15 points for Fredericktown.
St. Vincent fell to 3-10.

Cape Central 36, Poplar Bluff 36
Cape Central's wrestling team is 1-3-1 after tying visiting Poplar Bluff Thursday.
"We wrestled strong up and down the lineup," said Central coach Drew Lilledahl. "We got pins where we needed them."
Central's winners were Jonah Woods, Greg Chenoweth, Ben Keefe, Ben Allen, Dustin Gross, Matt Strickland and Greg Kenoth.
