The fourth annual Tiger Shootout has been shot down in its icy tracks.

Today's five-game lineup has been canceled, becoming yet another casualty to the weather. All high school sporting events throughout the region Friday were canceled due to freezing rain which fell earlier in the day.

The Shootout will not be rescheduled, although individual teams may try to reschedule their games for a later date.

Massac County's girls team backed out Friday afternoon and three teams -- Vianney boys, Oakville boys and Rosary girls -- had to make the trek from St. Louis.

"We had one team cancel and a few more that were wishy-washy," said Cape Central girls coach Darrick Smith.

Area teams which were supposed to participate were Notre Dame's boys, Central's boys and girls and Jackson's boys and girls.
