Josh Miller carded a score of 40 for nine holes to lead the Cape Girardeau Central High boys golf team to a six-stroke victory over Farmington at the Cape Girardeau Country Club Wednesday.

Central's team total of 169 included Nick Harter (41), Drew Christian (43) and Dusty York (45).

Farmington, which had a 175 team total, was led by Adam Schweiss (41).

The victory evened the Tigers' record at 2-2.

Carbondale 5, Cape Central 4

CARBONDALE, Ill. Central suffered its first dual-match loss of the season as the Tigers fell to 4-1.

The Tigers won the JV contest 9-3.

SOFTBALL

Scott City 18, Oak Ridge 3

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City made short work of Oak Ridge with a victory in a game called after four innings.

Brittany Amick was the winning pitcher and one of the leading hitters for the Lady Rams with two hits as Scott City won its second game of the season.

Other contributors to Scott City's offense were Kyla Smith with three hits and Becca Edmondson with two.

TRACK & FIELD

Jackson teams win quad

JACKSON -- Mario Whitney won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and anchored the winning 4x200 relay team as Jackson's boys won their own quadrangular meet held on a sloppy track.

With rain falling throughout, the entire schedule of events was completed with the exception of the final event, the 4x400 relay.

The Indians easily outdistanced the other participants with a score of 133 1/2. Other scores were Kelly (52 1/2), Dexter (43) and Fredericktown (24).

Jackson's girls also won handily with 150 points. Other scores were Dexter (43), Kelly (41), and Fredericktown (21).
