Three area players earn all-state honors

Bell City was rewarded for its third-place finish at the state volleyball tournament as two players were named to the Missouri Volleyball Coaches Association all-state team.

Freshman setter Codie Lancaster and sophomore Jenny Lathum each made second-team all-state in Class 1. Lancaster finished with 705 assists and 220 digs for the Cubs. Lathum finished with more than 100 kills and more than 250 digs.

The Cubs finished the season 30-7-2 after defeating Winona in three games in the third-place game.

Advance senior Angela Broshuis was the only other area player to make the all-state team. Broshuis made the second-team in Class 1. The Hornets lost to Bell City in the district finals.
