THOMASSON PLACES SIXTH IN 4A STATE MEET

JEFFERSON CITY -- Cape Central senior Lane Thomasson took sixth place in the Class 4A, state cross country meet Saturday for the best finish for any cross country runner -- boy or girl -- in school historyThomasson finished the 5,000-meter run in 19:50.46, 37 seconds off the state-championship time.

She was three seconds from finishing fifth.

Prior to Thomasson's finish, no Cape Central girl had finished better than 13th and no boy had finished better than ninth.

On the boys side, Sikeston's Cory Taylor took fourth in 4A with a time of 17:02.83.

Southeast had three teams -- Perryville's boys in Class 3A, Advance's boys in Class 1A and Central's girls in Class 4A compete at state.
