STE. GENEVIEVE -- St. Vincent High's 5-foot-10 center Danielle Sutterer provided almost 80 percent of her team's offense as the Squaws slipped past Valle 51-45 Wednesday night.
Sutterer scored a career-high 40 points, including 17 of her team's 22 field goals. She had 10 times as many points as her next-closest teammate.
"She was open and we kept feeding her," said St. Vincent coach Terry Wengert. "She worked hard and we got her the ball. This is my ninth year and we haven't had anybody close to 40. I think the most we've had is 25 and that was her."
Caitlin Hoeh had six assists, while Danielle Schremp and Nicole Richardet each had five for St. Vincent, which improved to 10-11.
St. Vincent led 26-17 at halftime, but Valle outscored St. Vincent 28-25 in the second half.
