Where are scores?
I AM a former resident of Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. I frequently look into your Web site for local content. I find the reporting of sports scores too lacking, especially as it concerns Charles-ton and deeper into the Boot-heel. Do you have any explanation?
Editor's note:Scores from throughout Southeast Missouri are published in our daily print edition and are typically gathered with help from area media. However, area coaches are encouraged to submit their team's scores and statistics for our Web site.
Congratulations earned
TO THE Meadow Heights basketball fans, I agree that the team players are showing respect and good sportsmanship despite their parents, spectators and coaches influence. These boys are out there playing their hearts out and controlling their emotions and disappointments. How much more pressure do you think you're adding to their game by being negative and out of control? What good has the booing and blaming the referees done? None. You're definitely making it harder for them which causes more mistakes from pressure and nervousness. I know because I've been there. Try being positive. Show them you're behind them 100 percent no matter if they win or lose. Be proud of them. They should be proud of themselves. It's the crowd that's out of the control who should be put down. If you don't have something positive to say, then don't say anything. Make the team proud of their fans. After all, they have no control of your actions. They have to accept what you do. They have rules to abide by and may I say they do it with class. It's a shame that the ranking personnel don't or won't take action of this unnecessary rudeness of the fans and coaches. The coaches really showed poor conduct Friday. Encourage sportsmanship no matter if you disagree with the referees. Remember it doesn't help.
Appalled by language
MAYBE IT'S time the Jackson School Board investigates the attitude of the girls' basketball coach. After sitting behind the bench for a number of games, I'm appalled at the language this man uses in the presence of young ladies.
Whitney is the best
MARIO WHITNEY is probably the best running back to ever play in the state of Missouri besides Ricky Smith who is no longer playing.
