Jackson Babe Ruth sweeps New Madrid
The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team improved to 16-0 on Tuesday with a pair of victories at New Madrid.
Jackson won the opener 9-3 and the nightcap 15-6.
Bryant Steffens pitched all seven innings for the win in the opener. Spencer Sander had three hits, and Chris Roth and Alex Beussink finished with two apiece.
Austin Mueller threw five innings for the victory in the second game. Roth led the offense with four hits, including a home run. Garrett Fritsche and B.I. Howard each added two hits.
New Madrid fell to 14-3.
Cape Junior Legion posts win
Vance Toole went five innings to pitch the Plaza Tire Cape Girardeau Junior American Legion baseball team past Sikeston 13-3 on Tuesday.
Luke Hinkebein went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs in the win. Josh Hiett, Erik Allen and James Diveley all had two hits for Cape (15-5).
