Cape Senior Legion drops pair at tourney

The Cape Girardeau Ford and Sons Post 63 Senior American Legion baseball team dropped both of its games at the Paducah, Ky., tournament Thursday.

Post 63 lost to Terre Haute, Ind., in the opener, an 8-2 decision.

Josh Meyer went the distance in a losing effort. He struck out four.

Josh Hiett, Logan Morris and Trey Gardner all went 2 for 3.

Post 63 then fell to Ballwin, Mo., 12-2 in five innings.

Cody Livesay suffered the loss. He struck out three in four innings of work.

Ross Moldenhauer went 1 for 3 with a double, while Dustin Crowden and Morris both went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Post 63 fell to 18-7.

Jackson Sr. Babe Ruth sweeps doubleheader

The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team defeated the Charleston Woodpeckers in both games of a doubleheader Wednesday.

Alex Beussink tossed a one-hitter in the 10-0 five-inning opener.

Derek Landewee and Trent Steffens both had two hits in the win.

Jesse Schott went the distance on the mound in the second game, a 15-4 victory.

Schott struck out eight and only allowed four hits.

Steffens collected five hits in the contest.

Jackson improved to 11-9 with the sweep.
