~ The Indiana Pacers will give the Southeast graduate a closer look
Former Southeast Missouri State forward Tyler Stone will get another chance to show off his skills for NBA coaches and executives.
Stone was not selected after working out for six NBA teams in the weeks before Thursday night's draft, but he later accepted an invitation from the Indiana Pacers to join their summer league team.
The NBA Summer League is mostly a chance for young players in an organization to get some work and experience in during the summer. Established NBA starters typically don't participate, so Stone should get plenty of time to show off his game and try to earn a contract.
Stone will report to the Pacers on Monday, according to a press release from the university. His summer league games -- part of the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League -- will take Saturday through July 11 at the Orlando Magic's practice facility at the Amway Center.
Ten NBA teams will participate and play five games during the week. The games are not open to the public. Only media and NBA officials will be allowed to watch, but all games will be shown on NBA TV.
Southeast men's basketball coach Dickey Nutt has filled one of his open assistant positions with Justin Argenal, it was announced Saturday in a news release from the athletic department.
Argenal, who will oversee recruiting, served as an assistant coach at The Citadel last season and was the director of basketball operations at Louisiana Tech for two seasons before that.
He graduated from California State University-Chico in 2009 and is the university's all-time leader in steals and assists.
Argenal was a graduate assistant with the University of Mississippi basketball program during the 2009-10 season before serving as the director of basketball operations at The Citadel the following season.
Nutt has been searching for two assistants after Jon Cremins accepted an assistant coaching position with the Kennesaw State University men's basketball program and Jessie Evans decided to pursue other professional opportunities.
The Southeast football team's game at Tennessee Tech on Nov. 8 will be aired on ESPN3, which is ESPN's online sports network. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. and will be viewable at WatchESPN.com or on the WatchESPN app.
This will be the second season ESPN has chosen an Ohio Valley Conference Game of the Week to air on its online network.
