Rain plagued the Kelso Klassic fastpitch softball tournament all weekend and ultimately had a hand in crowning the Bloomington (Ill.) Stix champions of the 20th annual event.

Bloomington was awarded a pair of forfeit victories over the Springfield (Ill.) Brandts in the championship games. Springfield was the tournament's lone unbeaten team after a 3-1 victory over Bloomington in the winner's bracket final, but due to the tournament running behind schedule because of rain, the Brandts had to leave for home and forfeit the championship games.

The tournament endured two rain delays on Saturday with play concluding at 4 a.m. Sunday. Due to rain Sunday morning, play didn't resume until noon.

Bloomington defeated T-Town KC 5-2 in the loser's bracket final, which in effect became the tournament championship.

Terry Mette of T-Town KC was named the tournament MVP player, while 18-year-old Australian pitcher Adam Folkard was selected the MVP pitcher.
