After a couple of weeks off from racing competition at Missouri International Racepark, Randy Stahley made fans and racers aware of his return.
Stahley of Cape Girardeau dominated the Modified Feature to pick up his second feature win of the 1997 season.
Stahley took the lead on the second lap and led the final 18 laps. Kent Bailey finished second to Stahley.
Bailey put pressure on Stahley for the final six laps and it looked like he might overtake the leader, but Stahley proved too strong to pass. Dr. David Morris finished a season-best third while Doug Moore took fourth and Johnny Wyatt fifth.
Shawn King picked up his fourth win in Winged Sprint car action. The Cape Girardeau racer led all 25 laps of the feature to pick up the $1,200 check.
Kevin Steptor finished second, a half lap behind King. Scott Simion placed third and was followed by J.C. Sulawske and Todd Rowland.
Pure Street driver Keith Brugger won his second straight feature. The Jackson driver overtook polesitter Eric Harris, who later suffered a flat tire, on the second lap.
Cline Myers Jr. held the second spot for the final 11 laps and Harris rallied to finish third. Robert Burnett took fourth and Michael Wyatt fifth.
Billy James of Sikeston borrowed Greg Layne's No. 50 car and won the Super Street Feature. James started in the last row, but ended a month-long winless drought with his eighth feature win of the season.
Greg Gross finished second, followed by Pat Davidson, Randy Martin and Stephen Worley.
