A look at St. Vincent's football game against Grandview on Tuesday.

Grandview (1-4) at St. Vincent (3-3)

Last week: Herculaneum 53, Grandview 14; Crystal City 26, St. Vincent 16

Last year: Grandview 33, St. Vincent 7

Outlook: St. Vincent had its three-game winning streak snapped by Crystal City on Thursday, and the Indians have had just four full days to prepare for a rare Tuesday night game.

Tonight's game was part of a scheduling snafu that occurred when Crystal City and Grandview booked a game to play each other on a night when one of them was scheduled to play St. Vincent.

"We didn't realize until a month had passed after everybody was scheduled," St. Vincent coach Paul Sauer said. "The only way we could figure out how to fix it was to play every five days."

Sauer said the five days between games is the same spacing used in the state playoffs. The only alternative was an open date.

The short week comes at a bad time for St. Vincent. The Indians suffered two key injuries in Thursday's loss. Senior running back Derek Joggerst, who leads the team with nearly 300 yards rushing, strained a knee and is questionable for tonight's game. Levi Gotto and Alex Winkler likely will see more carries this week.

A more complex situation is the loss of senior Sean Martin, who will miss the game with a concussion. Martin is among the team's top receivers, starting free safety, kicker and punter. Trenton Gremaud will fill in for Martin at tight end, while either Levi Gotto or Tim Schumer will occupy safety. Dylan Richardet likely will cover the kicking duties.

Schumer went over 1,000 yards passing in last week's loss, a game which the Indians led 16-0 at halftime but were outscored 26-0 in the second half. Schumer is averaging 188 yards passing per game, while the Indians average 108 yards per game on the ground. Trent Elder leads the receivers with 25 catches for 292 yards.

Grandview, which will play Crystal City on Saturday, has had 10 open days since its last game, a 53-14 loss to Herculaneum. St. Vincent owns a 28-20 victory against Herculaneum. The Eagles' lone win, a 28-15 victory, came against St. Pius in Week 3. St. Vincent defeated St. Pius 35-21 in Week 5.

Grandview senior quarterback Andrew Holland has completed 44 percent of his passes. Sophomore Wes Sullivan and junior Christian Murphy have had the bulk of the rushing attempts for the Eagles. Sullivan has a team-high 360 yards on 61 carries, while Murphy has 194 yards on 55 carries.

Junior receiver Andy Allen leads Grandview with 15 catches for 299 yards and three touchdowns.
