St. Vincent's football team enjoyed a resurgent year that led it into the playoffs for the first time since 2000.
And in turn, St. Vincent placed three players on the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association's all-state team Tuesday.
Zach Moll put up a 37.55-yard punting average, good enough for a first-team selection. Moll, a senior, also played a big part for the team at wide receiver and defensive back.
Mark Prost and Brian Buchheit made the second team. Prost, a junior, is a big offensive tackle at 6-foot-3 and 289 pounds. Prost's footwork helped him excel at drive blocking. With the help of Prost and the rest of St. Vincent's line, brothers Chris and Kyle Kline combined to rush for more than 1,000 yards.
On the defensive line Buchheit, a junior, finished the season with 72 tackles including six sacks. St. Vincent's defense was one of the top defenses in the area and held opponents to 12.4 points a game.
The Class 4 and 5 all-state teams will be released Thursday.
