STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- St. Vincent faltered in the second half as it fell 50-41 to Valle in the Ste. Genevieve round-robin tournament Friday night.

The Indians, who defeated Crystal City in Thursday's opener, will play St. Pius for third place tonight in the six-team event.

The Indians (4-2) led 23-18 at halftime but were outscored by the Warriors (5-5) 32-18 in the second half.

Tyler Wengert and Matt Wengert each scored 13 points for the Indians. Adam Bova had 13 for the Warriors.

"It was a disappointing game," said St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy. "We kind of fell apart in the second half."

MARQUAND 68, POTOSI 56

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Heath Stephens scored 32 points to lead Marquand into the consolation semifinals of the Park Hills Christmas Tournament.

Ryan Stephens added 15 points and Jared Kunz tallied 13 as the 14th-seeded Tigers improved to 5-6.

Marquand outscored No. 11 Potosi in each of the first three quarters, taking a 49-37 lead into the final period.

Marquand will face the Viburnum-Fredericktown winner in today's consolation action.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

ROSATI KAIN 54, PERRYVILLE 37

ST. LOUIS -- Perryville fell short in the consolation final of the Visitation Christmas Tournament.

The Lady Pirates (6-6) went 2-2 in the tournament. They got another standout performance from sophomore forward April Lorenz, who scored 18 points as she finished the tourney with 78 points.

"We didn't play well tonight, but April Lorenz had a very strong game and a very strong tournament," said Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann.
