Oakville 80, Central 55

Oakville had no trouble with visiting Central in posting a 25-point victory.

Oakville (13-4) was led by Matt McKiernan with 24 points. Drew Martin and Casey Noll, a pair of 6-foot-7 players, added 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Central (8-9), which trailed 40-19 at halftime and 65-33 after three quarters, got 12 points from Garrett Ozbun and 10 from freshman Jajuan Bell.

Richland 75, Zalma 61

Zalma trailed by only three points after three quarters, but Richland took advantage of Zalma's poor free-throw shooting and defeated the visiting Bulldogs.

Zalma managed to convert only 16 of 33 free throws, while Richland was nearly perfect at 18 of 20.

Zalma's Adam Pixley led all scorers with 31 points, including six 3-pointers. Daniel Schrader added 10 for Zalma (2-11).

"We couldn't execute the way we needed to inside," Zalma coach Dwyght Ford said. "And it would've been a different ballgame if we had hit free throws, too."

Central nearly pulled off the victory at Mary Institute-Country Day School in St. Louis County.

"We were hoping to beat this team," Central coach Dayna Powell said. "But they had a really standout senior, David Zinc. Without him, we would have won."

Central (4-6) took first place in three events. Stuart Greaser had a first-place time of 2 minutes, 21.90 seconds in the 200-meter individual medley. John Wolpers also took first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:35.16, and Peyton Waggener won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.65.

Kris Metje missed the state cup by six-tenths of a second in the 200 freestyle.
