The St. Vincent girls basketball team pulled an upset Saturday at the Class 3 District 2 tournament at Bloomfield High School by knocking off No. 3 Clearwater 39-30.

The sixth-seeded Squaws (10-15) overcame a slow start and led 18-15 at halftime. Sierra Paulus was St. Vincent's lone double figure scorer with 10 points.

In another upset, No. 5 Woodland upended No. 4 Scott City 60-56. The Cardinals have won three straight and improved to 10-14.

Freshman Cortney Glastetter led Woodland with 25 points, Elisha Glastetter had 14 and Amanda Abner added 10.

Scott City was led by Amanda Raines' 17 points. Christy Laxton scored 13, and Alisha Obermann added 10. Raines, Laxton and Obermann all fouled out.

Second-seeded Kelly breezed past No. 7 East Prairie 58-12. Ten players scored for Kelly, including Mindy Robert with 14 points and Monica Senciboy with 11.

Monday's semifinal games will feature No. 1 Charleston versus Woodland at 6 p.m. and Kelly against St. Vincent at 7:30 p.m.St. Vincent 39, Clearwater 30

New Salem (18-11) led 29-20 heading into the fourth quarter, but collapsed in the fourth.

Sarah Green led New Salem with 18 points.

Green and MacKenzie Jones made first-team all-state, and Eagle Ridge's Autumn Crowden made the second team.

Class 3 District 2

No. 1 Charleston ended St. Vincent's season with a 79-54 win in the first round of the Class 3 District 2 tournament.

The Indians finished their season 14-10, while Charleston improved to 21-3.

Waylon Richardet led St. Vincent with 16 points, Alex Armbruster had 13 and Danny Rellergert had 11.

Joshua Strayhorn hit five 3-pointers for Charleston and finished with 23 points.

Second-seeded Scott City had little problems with No. 7 Clearwater, winning 87-63. The Rams (21-4) hit 14 3-pointers, including six apiece from Jeremy Schlosser and Mark Dannenmueller. Dannenmueller led Scott City with 36 points, Schlosser had 22 and Mark Johnston had 10.

No. 4 Woodland edged East Prairie 52-49. Travis Benfield led Woodland (14-11) with 19 points, and Cody McCraw had 11. Woodland will play Charleston at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.Charleston 79, St. Vincent 54

New Salem Baptist Academy knocked off rival Eagle Ridge Christian School in the third-place game of the MCHSAA state tournament.

David Green hit the game-winning shot with 2.8 seconds remaining. Green finished with 16 points. Boone Gaines led New Salem (22-8) with 21 points, Johnathan Davault had 20 and Andrew Conway had 13.

Eagle Ridge got 17 points from Daniel Ellinghouse, 16 from Phillip Brock and 13 from T.J. Crowden.

Davault and Eagle Ridge's Joel Powell were first-team all-state, and Gaines made the second team.
