St. Vincent earns more honors

The Southeast Missouri Football Coaches Association recently released its all-district teams, with several area players earning player of the year honors.

St. Vincent senior defensive lineman Chris Fischer shared defensive player of the year honors in Class 1 with Valle's Zach Uding. Fischer had earned all-state honors from both the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association and the Missouri Football Coaches Association. The Indians made it to the quarterfinals before falling to Class 1 runner-up Marionville.

Indians coach Keith Winkler was the coach of the year in Class 1.

Also earning defensive player of the year honors was Jackson senior defensive back Austin Leimer. Leimer helped lead Jackson to a 6-4 record.

Jackson coach Carl Gross was the coach of the year for classes 5 and 6.
