PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Chelsea Brown scored with a minute left in regulation as St. Vincent salvaged a 1-1 tie against St. Pius in girls soccer Monday.
Brown scored off a feed from Beth Hennemann at the 79-minute and two scoreless overtime periods ensued.
Jamie Derleth scored at the 52-minute mark to give St. Pius a 1-0 lead.
Perryville 2, Poplar Bluff 0
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Ashley Blyzes and Jennifer Koenig each scored goals as Perryville won its season opener.
Blyzes scored struck at the 28-minute mark as Koenig assisted on the play. Koenig then banked a shot off an opposing player for a goal at the 68-minute mark. Goalkeeper Amanda Knight recorded seven saves in recording the shutout. Poplar Bluff fell to 0-1.
Perryville's JV team won 4-1.
Softball
HILLSBORO 10, ST. VINCENT 2
HILLSBORO, Mo. -- With nine hits, Hillsboro only had one more hit than St. Vincent, but parlayed them into 10 runs.
St. Vincent (0-2), which had eight hits, was hampered by four errors on defense.
Freshman Alex Armbruster suffered the loss.
Kelly 10, Scott City 0
BENTON, Mo. -- Kelly scored in every inning as it won its season opener.
Sara Essner went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs for the Hawks, while Jessica Burnett had a triple and Kelly Essner and Kristen Harper each had doubles. Dana Essner and Whitney Beggs combined on the one-hit shutout. Essner fanned six batters and Beggs struck out five.
Egyptian, (Ill.) 10, Delta 0
DELTA, Mo. -- Egyptian's Ashley Jones threw a five-inning no-hitter at Delta.
Jones struck out 12 and walked only one. The game was ended by the mercy rule.
Sarah Cook took the loss for Delta (0-1-1). She allowed 15 hits, struck out two and walked five.
