ST. LOUIS -- Right tackle, long a problem position for the St. Louis Rams, is getting some much-needed attention.

Alex Barron of Florida State, taken with the 19th overall pick of Saturday's draft, fills arguably the team's biggest area of need coming off an 8-8 season. He will line up down the line from six-time Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Pace and, the Rams hope, end a revolving door at his spot.

"We've always gotten by in the last six years," coach Mike Martz said. "We've been kind of taping things together. This is a load of bricks off my shoulders."

In the second round, the Rams took cornerback Ron Bartell of Division I-AA Howard. At 6-feet-1 and 208 pounds, he's large enough to play safety where St. Louis has another glaring need.

In the third round, the Rams took safety Oshiomogho Atogwe of Stanford and controversial offensive lineman Richie Incognito, who was kicked out of Nebraska and Oregon for violating team rules and sat out last season. Incognito will undergo knee surgery next week.
