FREDERICKTOWN -- The St. Vincent Squaws, the second seed, advanced to the finals of the Class 1A, District 3 Tournament with a 61-45 win over No. 3 Valle-Ste. Genevieve Wednesday night.

Jessica Lakenan poured in a game-high 20 points for St. Vincent, followed by Danielle Sutterer with 15 and Sara Cissell with 11.

Sutterer also had a team-high 12 rebounds and Lakenan had 11.

"All 10 of the girls played phenomenal," said St. Vincent coach Terry Wengert. "We shot well and played good defense. We played super."

The Squaws (17-8) outscored Valle 19-7 in the second quarter and took a 32-18 lead into halftime.

St. Vincent made just 14 of 29 free throws.

Top-seeded Viburnum picked up a 70-43 victory over fourth-seeded South Iron to set up a showdown with the Squaws.

The championship game will be held at 6 p.m. Friday.

"It should be two pretty evenly matched teams," Wengert said.

Park Hills 61, Doniphan 57, OT

POPLAR BLUFF -- Doniphan, ranked 10th in Class 3A, made just six of its 33 foul shots Wednesday night and it cost them dearly in an overtime loss in a Class 3A sectional game against Park Hills.

At one point, the Donettes -- usually a sound-shooting team -- missed 15 in a row.

Bethany Orendorf scored a game-high 20 points for the Donettes, but made just four of 19 foul shots.

Jessica Wilfong led Park Hills with 17 points. Park Hills made 25 of its 39 foul shots.

BOYS BASKETBALL

New Madrid 72, Arcadia Valley 42

POPLAR BLUFF -- New Madrid had no troubles disposing of ninth-ranked Arcadia Valley (27-2).

Sophomore Ronland Ranson led New Madrid, the Class 3A, District 1 champions, with 24 points. Dereke Tipler had 15 and Ricky Smith had 10 for the Eagles.

Arcadia Valley's Chris Foster, who had been averaging about 28 points per game, was held to just 15.

New Madrid got out to a 32-20 lead at halftime.

Lindbergh 53, Sikeston 47

ST. LOUIS -- Despite being the only Class 4A team in Missouri to reach the sectional round with a losing record, Lindbergh (11-16) advanced past District 1 champ Sikeston Wednesday night.

Sikeston fell to 16-11 on the year after defeating Jackson for the district championship last week.
