SPORTS DIGEST: SEMO BASEBALL PLAYERS PICK UP MORE HONORS

Southeast Missouri State University baseball players Todd Pennington and Brad Beatty picked up two more honors Monday.

Pennington, the 2001 Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-South Region first team.

A junior right-hander who went 12-2 with a 1.33 earned-run average this year, Pennington had previously been named to a pair of All-American second teams, by Louisville Slugger/TPX and Baseball Weekly.

Beatty, who batted .353 as a freshman designated hitter this year, was named to the All-South Region second team. He had previously been named a Louisville Slugger/TPX Freshman All-American honorable-mention.
