RIVERDOGS SPLIT TWO GAMES IN KENTUCKY TOURNAMENT
DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. -- The Cape Girardeau Riverdogs split their first two games in the six-team River King Tournament, beating Saline County (Ill.) 6-2 Saturday after losing to Evansville (Ind.) 11-1 in six innings Friday.
The Riverdogs (5-6) will play the Memphis (Tenn.) Royals today as pool play continues.
Chris Reeves (3-0) pitched all seven innings Saturday, allowing seven hits and one earned run, with five strikeouts and two walks. D-Ray Ivie singled, doubled and tripled, good for three RBIs.
Josh West, Mark Silverthorn and Chris Bradshaw all had two hits Friday. Matt Stroup took the loss despite allowing just two earned runs in five innings. He gave up seven hits and struck out 12.

Bills wide receiver Eric Moulds has voluntarily ended his endorsement agreement with the Canadian-based company MuscleTech Research and Development after an investigation by league officials determined it violated a new policy. The NFL recently enacted a policy that prevents players from endorsing companies that manufacture or market products that contain substances banned by the league. Moulds is the first player affected by the rule.
Hockey
Detroit defenseman Fredrik Olausson, 35, will leave the Stanley Cup champion Red Wings and return to his former team in Sweden. The Nya Wermlands-Tidningen, a Swedish newspaper, reportd that Olausson, who won the Stanley Cup for the first time with the Red Wings last week, will sign a two-year contract with Farjestad on July 1.
Horse racing
Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron, whose mounts have earned more money than any jockey in history, is retiring next week. McCarron, 47, quietly began telling friends in racing of his decision in the middle of the week. He made the announcement Saturday at the track where in April of 2001 he became only the seventh rider in history to notch 7,000 wins, said a spokesman for Hollywood Park race track.
Tennis
Top-seeded Lleyton Hewitt and No. 2 Tim Henman will meet in the final of the Queen's Club grass-court championship today for the second straight year after overcoming stubborn opposition. Hewitt advanced with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Sjeng Schalken, and Henman edged Raemon Sluiter 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2. Hewitt, the defending champion, is the first player since John McEnroe to reach the Queen's final for three consecutive years. McEnroe reached five straight finals between 1979 and 1983, winning the first three.
Nicolas Kiefer defeated Roger Federer 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Yevgney Kafelnikov defeated Kenneth Carlsen 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to set up today's championship in the Gerry Webber Open at Halle, Germany.
Anna Smashnova beat local favorite Patricia Wartusch 6-3, 6-2 to reach the final of the WTA Wien Energie Grand Prix at Vienna, Austria. Smashnova rallied from an 0-3 deficit in the first set and won 12 of the match's final 14 games. Smashnova has won two tournament titles this season and will face defending champion Iroda Tulyaganovain the final. Tulyaganova beat surprise semifinalist Petra Mandula 6-0. 6-3.
Top-seeded Jelena Dokic beat Lisa Raymond 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the final of the DFS Classic grass-court tournament at Birmingham, England. Dokic will face Anastasia Myskina, who advanced to the final with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Nicole Pratt.
Sebastien Grosjean, ranked No. 11 in the world, has pulled out of this month's Wimbledon championships, organizers said. No reason was given.
