Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate Ross Bennett will participate this weekend in his second straight NCAA Baseball Regional as a member of the Baylor University Bears.
Baylor (35-22) will play Houston Friday in the four-team regional in Houston.
Bennett, a sophomore outfielder, has been limited because of shoulder problems to just three starts and 32 official at-bats for the Bears, but he has made the most of them, hitting .344 with two doubles, two triples, eight runs scored and eight runs batted in.
Last year, as a redshirt freshman, Bennett started 34 games and batted .285, with three homers and 31 RBIs, as the Bears won the Big 12 Conference title.
