Redick, who averaged 26.8 points for Duke (32-4), was second in the nation in scoring this season. He is the record sixth Duke player to win the award, with five winners coming since 1992. The award was first presented in 1961.

Williams followed a national championship season by leading an inexperienced North Carolina team to a 23-8 record and a Top 10 finish.
