University presidents and chancellors from each of the 11 Division I-A football conferences came up with a process for their commissioners to devise plans to change the current bowl system. After a four-hour meeting Sunday, the two sides agreed that Division I-A won't go to a 16-team NFL-style playoff like the one used in Division I-AA and each came up with plans at least loosely based on the current BCS system.

Four Oakland Raiders have tested positive for the newly discovered steroid THG and face four-game suspensions, CBS reported. Oakland senior assistant Bruce Allen criticized the report but wouldn't confirm or deny the reports of the positive tests.
Golf
South Africa's Trevor Immelman and Rory Sabbatini combined to shoot a 1-over-par 73 for a four-stroke victory at the World Cup. Immelman and Sabbatini finished at 13-under 275 and gave South Africa its second World Cup title in three years and fifth overall. The U.S. team of Jim Furyk and Justin Leonard was in contention until going bogey-triple bogey at Nos. 12 and 13. The Americans shot a 3-over 75 and finished in a tie with Ireland's Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley for fifth at 4-under 284.
Dorothy Delasin rolled in an 8-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat Korea's Hee-Wan at the LPGA Tournament of Champions.
South Africa's Retief Goosen defeated Annika Sorenstam to win the Tiger Skins exhibition event.
Hank Kuehne rolled in a 4-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole, giving him and partner Jeff Sluman the Franklin Templeton Shootout title.
British Open champion Ben Curtis was runner-up at the Taiheiyo Masters, six strokes behind winner Kiyoshi Murota.
