Sophomore Rebekah Lawson broke her own school record in the 5,000-meter run to highlight Southeast Missouri State track and field over the weekend at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.

Lawson's time was 17 minutes, 36.30 seconds as she finished fourth. She leads the Ohio Valley Conference by more that 25 seconds in the event.

Southeast's lone first-place finish was recorded by Craig Robinson in the weight throw. He won with a distance of 62 feet, 6 1/2 inches, and Kevin Farley was second (60-0 1/2).

Alex Zisser had two career-best times, finishing fifth in the mile (4:13.38) and eighth in the 3,000 (8:32.79).

Craig Munie (15:11.75 ) and Tyler Mullen (15.18.63) were fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 5,000.

Macy Ritter led Southeast's women by finishing second in the high jump (5-3 3/4).

Unique Hooks ran a career-best in the 60 hurdles (8.92) to place third.

 Southeast hosts its annual Redhawks Invitational on Friday at the Student Recreation Center.

Softball

Southeast's final game at the Mardi Gras Classic in Monroe, La., against UC Santa Barbara was rained out Sunday.

The Redhawks (2-3) split their four contests to finish fourth in the five-team tournament.

Two Southeast players, senior shortstop Kaitlin Zink and senior pitcher Taylor Cowan, earned all-tournament honors.

Zink batted .385 (5 for 13) in the tournament with a double, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Cowan went 1-1 with a 1.91 ERA in 11 innings of work.

Southeast returns to action Feb. 22 at the Blues City Classic hosted by Memphis.

Gymnastics

Southeast suffered a 196.300-191.325 dual loss at 16th-ranked Boise State on Sunday in Boise, Idaho.

The score is a season low for the Redhawks, who fell to 2-3.

Southeast's Taryn Vanderpool was second in the all-around with a score of 38.450 and tied for second on bars with 9.800.

Taylor Westrick had Southeast's other top-five finish in an individual event, placing third on beam (9.700).
