Yet still more honors rolled in for the Southeast Missouri State football team.
Southeast garnered another three All-American accolades when the Phil Steele Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) squads were released Thursday.
Senior tailback Henry Harris and senior center Sean Middleton made the Phil Steele first team, while sophomore safety Tylor Brock made the second team.
Harris earned his fourth All-American honor of the season. He also was selected to the Walter Camp team, the Sports Network first team and The Associated Press second team.
Harris, the Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the year, rushed for a single-season school record 1,735 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Middleton earned his third All-American accolade after being named to the AP third team and Sports Network third team.
Middleton, a first-team all-OVC pick like Harris, was part of an offensive line that led the nation in sacks allowed (0.50 per game). The Redhawks also led the OVC and ranked third nationally in rushing offense (265.1 yards per game).
Brock, who nabbed his first All-American award, led the OVC and ranked 16th nationally with six interceptions, which tied a school record. He returned two of his picks for touchdowns.
Brock, first-team all-OVC, also recorded 56 tackles and accumulated 174 interception return yards.
Harris, Middleton and Brock helped the Redhawks post one of the best seasons in program history. Southeast (9-3) tied the school record for wins while capturing its first OVC title and earning its first playoff berth.
Eleven OVC players made the Phil Steele All-American teams, with Tennessee State senior safety Eugene Clifford joining Harris and Middleton on the first unit.
