The Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team hung relatively close to Wisconsin-Green Bay for the first half Friday night.

But the powerful Phoenix wound up rolling to a 74-40 victory in Green Bay, Wis.

Southeast fell to 4-6 while UWGB, ranked 17th and 23rd in the two major national polls, improved to 9-0.

UWGB, ahead 35-22 at halftime, scored the first seven points of the second half as part of a 19-2 run that turned the contest into a blowout.

The Phoenix have won 17 straight regular-season games and 26 in a row at home, one shy of the school record.

Sophomore forward Bailie Roberts scored 11 points to lead Southeast.

Junior guard Bianca Beck had eight points, three assists and three steals. Sophomore guard Jasmine Davis added eight points.

Sophomore guard Monica Miller led Southeast in rebounding with six. Junior college transfer forward Courtney Shiffer had a season-high four blocks.

Celeste Hoewisch scored 16 points to lead the Phoenix.

Southeast shot 36.4 percent from the field, including 31.8 percent in the second half when UWGB pulled away.

The Phoenix shot 41.8 percent, topped by 46.4 percent in the final period.

UWGB had a huge advantage from the free-throw line, making 21 of 27 compared to 2 of 2 for Southeast.

Southeast committed 25 turnovers compared to 10 for UWGB. The Phoenix had a 26-4 advantage in points off turnovers and a 32-14 edge on points in the paint.

The Redhawks, 1-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play, return to action Dec. 19 at OVC opponent Jacksonville State.
