Southeast women to host struggling Lindenwood-Belleville

The Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team will be favored to end its three-game losing streak today.

Southeast coach John Ishee figures getting that accomplished is a necessity before the Redhawks face what could be the top squad on their schedule.

The Redhawks host Lindenwood-Belleville at noon today before visiting Notre Dame on Sunday. The Irish are ranked 14th and 16th in the two major national polls.

Southeast is 4-8 overall and 1-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play after dropping two OVC road games last week.

"We need to win this one," Ishee said. "It's been a tough stretch for us and it won't get any easier when we go to Notre Dame."

Before the Redhawks set their sights on Notre Dame, they should be able to get back into the victory column against Lindenwood-Belleville, a first-year program that competes in the little-known United States Collegiate Athletic Association with plans to move up to NAIA.

The Lynx were 4-10 before a game Wednesday night at Missouri-St. Louis.

"We can't look past anybody," Ishee said. "It's a game we have to get."

Southeast's next OVC contest is Jan. 8 against Eastern Illinois to start a three-game conference homestand.
