CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Southeast Missouri State women finished fourth and the men placed sixth during Saturday's Ohio Valley Conference cross country meet.

Samford's women repeated as champions, while host Eastern Illinois won the men's race. Eleven schools participated.

Southeast's women scored 97 points to finish behind Samford (20), Eastern Illinois (66) and Eastern Kentucky (77).

The Redhawks' Lindsay Zeiler placed fifth in 18 minutes, 22.32 seconds over 5,000 meters, while Jen Caywood was seventh (18:33.62). Both earned first-team all-OVC honors. Samford's Lauren Blankenship won in 17:00.18.

Also for Southeast, Brittni Peck was 23rd (19:26.21), Amy Warren 28th (19:26.21), Juli Koenegstein 34th (19:39.67), Hannah Korte 36th (19:43.70 ) and Sarah Verelst 47th (20:17.87).

Southeast's men had 131 points. Eastern Illinois won with 34 points.

The Redhawks' Gabe Lutes finished 13th (25:49.64 over 8,000 meters) to make second-team all-OVC. EKU's Jacob Korir captured the title in 24:39.4.

Also for Southeast, Chris Herren was 23rd (26:34.05), Brad DeMattei 26th (26:38.04), Danny Stults 33rd (26:42.78), Cory Huskey 38th (27:07.07), Mark McNamara 46th (27:29.95) and Kirk Nesbit 47th (27:47.78).

Volleyball wins on road

Southeast's volleyball team beat host Austin Peay 28-30, 30-27, 30-21, 30-27 Saturday.

The Redhawks (12-14, 8-4 OVC) received 24 kills from Jessica Koeper, 16 from Brenna Schlader, 14 from Jill Miller and 13 from Brittany Hastings.

Lauren Scannell had 35 digs, followed by Miller (19), Koeper (14) and Alyssa Aston (12). Jamie Baumstark had 57 assists.
