Southeast Missouri State's Redhawks were considered a long shot to be selected for the Women's NIT -- and that shot did not hit its mark.
The Redhawks were not among the 32 women's basketball teams selected when the WNIT released its 2005 field Sunday night.
Southeast went 22-8 this year for its best-ever record on the Division I level, finishing second in both the Ohio Valley Conference regular season and postseason tournament.
Squads with regional interest picked for the WNIT were Southwest Missouri State, Arkansas State, Illinois and Kentucky. The tournament begins Wednesday.
